Course Description: 

Step into the rich and inspiring world of classical music with Tom Field, an accomplished musician and engaging instructor. This course explores the stories, styles, and timeless beauty behind some of history’s most treasured compositions. Through guided listening and discussion, you’ll discover how composers use melody, harmony, rhythm, and emotion to create music that continues to move audiences across generations. Whether you are a lifelong music enthusiast or simply curious to learn more, Tom’s approachable teaching style makes classical music accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding. Leave with a deeper understanding of what makes these works enduring masterpieces—and a new appreciation for listening with fresh ears.

Facilitator Biography: 
Tom Field received his undergraduate degree in music with a specialty in classical piano performance and concert music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Although eventually pursuing a career in healthcare administration, he has continued his studies of music throughout his life. He has a passion for hearing new compositions for the first time, as well as for re-examining familiar works in order to discover new things in the masterpieces of the classical music tradition.
